Regarding the 2026–2027 Fall Semester Ph.D. Qualifying Written Exam for the Department of Physics

          Student Announcement Regarding the Fall 2026–2027 Doctoral Qualifying Written Exam in the Department of Physics

  • For students enrolled in the Physics Ph.D. Program at the Institute of Natural Sciences, Yıldız Technical University, during the Fall Semester of the 2026–2027 Academic-Academic Year, the Ph.D. Qualifying Written Exam for students enrolled in the Physics Ph.D. Program at the Institute of Natural Sciences, Yıldız Technical University, will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
  • Information regarding the classroom where the exam will be held will be announced at a later date.
  • The written exam will be held in a single session and will be common to all students in the program.
  • In the written exam, students will answer a total of 6 questions, each worth an equal number of points, drawn from the courses listed in Course Pool 1 and Course Pool 2 below.
  • The 6 answered questions will be graded out of a total of 100 points.
  • Students are required to answer at least 4 questions from Course Pool 1. The remaining 2 questions may be answered from Course Pool 1 and/or Course Pool 2, at the student’s discretion. Accordingly, students may complete the total of 6 questions by selecting both of the remaining 2 questions from Course Pool 1, both from Course Pool 2, or one from Course Pool 1 and the other from Course Pool 2.
  • The written exam lasts 120 minutes.
  • To pass the written exam, students must score at least 70 points.
  • Students who pass the written exam will take their oral qualifying exams before a Doctoral Qualifying Committee formed by their advisors on a date and time to be determined by their advisors between November 25, 2026, and December 4, 2026.
